Chironomidae as indicators of water pollution in Pesquería River (México)

چکیده
Despite their potential as indicators of water quality and key role in river ecosystems, Chironomidae is still poorly studied Neotropical rivers. This lack knowledge especially relevant for rivers subjected to intense human activities, such many Mexico. The aim this investigation contribute the midges Pesquería River (Mexico) along its main courses relate composition abundance health. Thirty samples were collected during two different periods (August 2015 February 2016) using a D-frame kick sampling. Thirty-five taxa found total, with four more than 50% sites 19 only once. Midges accounted total macroinvertebrate abundance. Chironomus gr. plumosus, Rheotanytarsus spp. Cricotopus bicinctus most abundant species. Collector-gatherers dominated August (71% individuals), whereas collector-filterers (43,2%). major factor explaining midge distribution pollution, while structure riparian area does not explain much richness. likely related organic pollution coming from untreated or treated sewage city Monterrey surroundings. Three sectors are distinguished river: i) upper part section higher biodiversity presence intolerant taxa; ii) middle polluted large red very tolerant (Chironomus, Dicrotendipes); iii) lower agricultural zone where community by red, small (Rheotanytarsus). Overall, our study shows that can be useful better when genera species levels used instead family subfamily, usually papers on pollution.

Classification of urban rivers on the basis of water pollution indicators in river sediment.
Urban rivers are polluted with discharge from sewage treatment plants and overflowing sewage caused by rainfall (Nix and Merry, 1990; Shiraris et al., 1987). These waste waters accelerate eutrophication of aquatic environments. Since urban river water is the public water supply source, it is an i~0ortant for public health issue to determine whether or not urban rivers are polluted with fecal ef...
متن کاملRelationship between F-specific RNA phage genogroups, faecal pollution indicators and human adenoviruses in river water.
Recent studies have shown the increasing interest of F-specific RNA phage genotyping to identify major sources of faecal contamination in waters. This study, conducted in a river located in an urbanized watershed with recognized anthropogenic influences, was aimed at evaluating the relevance of direct phage genotyping by real-time RT-PCR. One hundred percent of positive results were obtained wi...

In spite various uses of river water, it has always been exposed to pollution due to the development of human societies and the expansion of industries. Different indices, is used for estimation of water quality. Nowadays, aquatic organisms have efficient uses in water quality estimation. In this study, diatoms of Anbaran river, located in Namin city, east of Ardabil province, were investigated...

Water samples were collected from river Pandu at six stations where human and animal activities were high. Composite samples were analyzed for dissolved oxygen (DO), biochemical oxygen demand (BOD), chemical oxygen demand (COD) , pH values during dry and wet seasons as well as the harmattan period. The total data points were used to establish relationships between the parameters and data were a...
